SHIRLEY TSE / Artweek.LA / "Tse, Tse on Top"
“Shirley Tse’s recent show Vital Organs and Other Stories at Shoshanna Wayne Gallery is a delightfully refreshing orgy of eclectic materials that sparkle in the viewer’s eyes like a cleanly cut diamond. Adding a series of new materials to compliment her already prolific exploration of plastics, Tse courageously explores the readymade…”

“Figuring Color,“ the show these works and 26 others by Butterly appear in, is terrific. Organized by the ICA’s Jenelle Porter, it features four artists: two women, two men, three of them in their 40s or 50s. (The fourth, Félix González-Torres, died in 1996 at 38.)

Special Event: 'One Hour/One Painting: Izhar Patkin' with Peter Clothier
Wednesday, February 8 / 6PM
at Shoshana Wayne Gallery
“One Hour/One Painting” invites small groups of participants to sit with a single art work for a full hour. Applying the principles of meditation and contemplation, its intention is to encourage the slow-viewing of art for deeper and more gratifying insight.
PETER CLOTHIER’s most recent publication is MIND WORK (www.paramipress.com). His blog, “The Buddha Diaries” (www.thebuddhadiaries.com) has a world-wide readership. “One Hour/One Painting” was first offered 15 years ago, and has proved a challenging attraction for those who seek a more profound experience of art.
“ONE HOUR/ONE PAINTING: IZHAR PATKIN” WILL BE OFFERED ONCE ONLY. PARTICIPATION IS LIMITED TO 20 PEOPLE. PLEASE REGISTER EARLY WITH THE GALLERY TO ENSURE YOUR PLACE.
Attendance fee: $25 per person, to be mailed to the gallery in advance to guarantee your place. As an added attraction, Peter will be signing copies of Mind Work after the event.
